Solar Pump Yojana is a group supported and founded by professionals for the socio-economic and livelihood of the poor in India. We are currently engaged in poverty alleviation and community empowerment through a dynamic cluster-level community center approach. Managed development centers are another focus for us; these help rural communities gain access to reliable electricity. Another focus is mobilization, organization and collective action for local communities and ethnic groups – especially women and farmers. Sewa Kendras reach out to remote helmsmen to build capacity and include disaffected poor community members, women and men; with the help of We, 24-hour electricity can be possible in the villages of India using electricity generated on farmers’ land. With this program, farmers will be able to reduce their consumption of diesel and kerosene and will be able to sell the extra electricity they produce to any company that will pay them a price per unit.
